In Boston’s first sporting event since the Marathon Bombings, the NHL’s Bruins hosted the Buffalo Sabres. An emotional pre-game ceremony at TD Garden gave Bostonians a chance to applaud the effort of the city’s first-responders.
Longtime fan favorite Rene Rancourt sang the National Anthem in front of 17,000 who quickly joined him and sent chills down the backs of TV viewers.
Outside Boston, the sports world united to honor the city and its tenants. At Yankee Stadium and across Major League Baseball, teams played a Fenway Park tradition–Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline”–and took time to honor Boston’s finest.
This video unifies the ceremonies that took place across the country, while focusing on the people of Boston.
